Beijing Set to Unveil Three New Subway Lines Soon

Opening soon! Three new subway lines – Line 12 (Sijiqing - Dongbabei), Phase I of Line 3 (Dongsi Shitiao - Dongbabei), and the remaining part of Phase I south extension part of Changping Line (Xitucheng - Jimenqiao) – are now in test run, setting the stage for their trial opening later this year.

Test run refers to running the entire line according to the planned train schedules for real-condition test before its official opening.

During this stage, the lines will be operated in a fully enclosed environment without external disturbances, and trains, staff, and equipment will be arranged in strict accordance with standards for trial operations, in order to test the availability, safety, and reliability of equipment systems and the entire system, to assess performance in staff training, fault simulation, and emergency drills, and to examine emergency response in terms of train operations, passenger transport, and equipment management.

With the opening of these three lines, Beijing’s subway network will be added by an additional 45.3 kilometers.
