A renovation project is now underway in Fuchengmen to transform Hualian Commercial Building into an office building for FinTech businesses. It will be yet another example of repurposing underutilized buildings within the Beijing FinTech and Professional Service Innovation Demonstration Zone.

Upon completion, the revamped building will feature 571 photovoltaic panels on its roof, generating an estimated 370,000 kWh of electricity per year. In addition, intelligent lighting and other equipment will be installed, allowing for on-demand operations and making the whole building greener and more energy-efficient.

The new building, which will be named "Beijing Zhonghai Business Center", is scheduled for completion in the first half of this year. "It has already attracted interest from a large number of enterprises, most of which are in the FinTech sector. And we also plan to bring in technologically advanced small and medium-sized enterprises as well as unicorn companies. The goal is to boost the overall economic output of the area," said a project leader.
