In Beijing, from the Capital Museum to the Beijing Opera Museum in the hutongs, as well as the Dongsi Hutong Museum and the Lao She Memorial Hall, each museum exudes a rich "Beijing Flavor". They serve as windows for both locals and tourists to experience the historical and cultural heritage of Beijing.

Capital Museum

The architecture of the Capital Museum embodies rich ethnic characteristics while also presenting a distinct modern vibe. The exhibition draws on the collections of the Capital Museum over the years and the unearthed cultural relics from the Beijing area as its basic materials, incorporating the latest research findings in Beijing's history, cultural relics, archaeology, and related disciplines. It also draws inspiration from successful practices of museums both domestically and internationally, forming a modern exhibition with unique Beijing characteristics.

The Beijing Opera Museum

The Beijing Opera Museum is the first opera museum in Beijing. After upgrading and renovation, the museum now offers new exhibitions that incorporate innovative technology to create interactive experiences for visitors. The multimedia interactive exhibition "Echoes of Beijing Opera" in the museum reproduces the splendid scenes of traditional Beijing opera culture over the past century.

The Dongsi Hutong Museum

The Dongsi Hutong Museum is a typical three-bay siheyuan(four-sided courtyard house). The architectural complex largely preserves the complete structure of the traditional siheyuan, including five exhibition areas: the Dongsi Impression Zone, Impression of the Tiled House Zone, Cultural Exploration Zone, Cultural Exchange Zone, and Historical and Cultural Artefacts Zone. Here, visitors can experience authentic siheyuan architecture and explore the hutong culture through exhibits filled with the authentic atmosphere of hutong life.

The Lao She Memorial Hall

The Lao She Memorial Hall is a typical siheyuan that served as Mr. Lao She’s home and workplace for 16 years, during which he wrote 24 literary works including "Dragon Beard Ditch" and "Teahouse". The layout of the entire memorial hall is compact, with the east and west wing rooms converted into commemorative exhibition spaces. The physical exhibits in the east wing and the "Getting Closer to Lao She" chronological exhibition in the west wing showcase Mr. Lao She's life and creative journey through a wealth of precious books, photos, manuscripts, and personal belongings.
