Customs statistics reveal that in 2023, Beijing's import and export value hit CNY 3.65 trillion, marking a 0.3 percent increase from the previous year. This growth was 0.1 percentage points above the national average, contributing to 8.7 percent of the country's total import and export value.
In terms of trade forms, both bonded logistics and processing trade have shown steady growth. In 2023, Beijing's bonded logistics import and export value amounted to CNY 292.87 billion, marking a 14 percent increase from the previous year. The processing trade, meanwhile, reached CNY 156.98 billion, growing by 7.7 percent year-on-year. Regarding trading partners, Beijing continues to broaden its diverse and stable economic and trade relationships. In 2023, the total import and export value between Beijing and BRI participating countries reached CNY 1.92 trillion, accounting for 52.7 percent of Beijing's total import and export value. In trade with its top five partners – the European Union, Brazil, and Australia – Beijing saw an increase of 3.6 percent, 54.8 percent, and 5.8 percent respectively, compared to the previous year.
