Blizzards will bring cooling, icy and slippery roads. Beijing has issued an orange alert for blizzards, a yellow alert for icy roads, and a blue alert for a cold wave.
How to travel safely in blizzard conditions? Here are some tips:
Walking
Keep warm and wear non-slip shoes.
Avoid icy roads and puddles while walking.
No speeding or running on slippery roads.
Stay away from trees and tall buildings as much as possible.
Driving
Remove snow from windshield, headlights and reflectors to ensure a clear sight and broad vision.
Slow down and leave much more space between you and the car ahead.
Don't brake suddenly, but press and lift the brake gently.
Use non-skid tires or deflate the tires a small amount to increase the friction between the tires and the road surface.
Taking Public Transport
Stand on the platform to wait for trains or buses, and don't walk off the curb.
Don't tail vehicles as they enter the station.
Board in an orderly fashion when vehicles stop.
Take steps firmly when getting off to prevent slips and falls.
It will keep snowing for the next two days. Keep warm and travel safely!
Due to heavy snow and cold wave, some parks and scenic spots in Beijing are temporarily closed. Please check specific information before visiting.
