Recently, the Market Supervision and Administration Bureau of Chaoyang District in Beijing processed a shareholder name change registration for AR CARTON Packaging Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., a Swedish-funded enterprise. The move makes the company the first foreign-funded enterprise in Beijing to undergo registration procedures in accordance with the Hague Apostille Convention.

Starting from November 7, the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, also known as the Hague Apostille Convention, officially came into effect in China. The Convention is the most widely applicable international treaty with the highest number of signatory members under the framework of The Hague Conference on Private International Law. Its purpose is to streamline cross-border circulation of official documents.

After the Hague Apostille Convention takes effect, enterprises only need to apply for an apostille from their home countries, eliminating the process of consular authentication from the Chinese embassy after notarization. The new step simplifies cross-border circulation of notarized documents and greatly reduces the processing time for document circulation procedures among contracting countries. This enhancement in registration services further improves the convenience for foreign-funded enterprises.
