On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Belt and Road Diplomats' Cycling Series was launched in 2023 to deepen the exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture and sports, fully realize the in-depth integration of cultural exchanges and sports, and drive the development of the industry. Recently, the Beijing Laoshan Station event was successfully held, which was co-hosted by the Cycling and Fencing Sports Administrative Center under the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Cycling Association, and Shijingshan District People's Government of Beijing Municipality.
On the morning of that day, there were over a hundred diplomats from 22 countries and representatives of international students, as well as cycling enthusiasts, took a ride in honor of the "Dual Olympic District". Shijingshan District is known as the "Dual Olympic District" as it served as the venue for both the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2022 Winter Olympics. The route of the honor ride was from the Big Air Shougang to the Laoshan Velodrome, with a total length of eight kilometers.
The Opening Ceremony of the event was held in the morning. Guests participating in the "Dual Olympic District" Honor Ride fired the starting gun for the event.
In addition to the road cycling race held on the Laoshan cycling race track, the event also featured a kids' balance bike race and a virtual cycling challenge.
After the competition of the Embassy and Consulate Group, the representatives of ambassadors and international students visited the Fahai Temple and the Fahai Temple Mural Art Center. Then they returned to the Shougang Park and climbed to the top of the Big Air Shougang to enjoy a panoramic view of the western part of Beijing, commemorating the glorious moments of the Winter Olympics.
At this point, the 2023 Belt and Road Diplomats' Cycling Series has been successfully concluded.
