Recently, the Yuanmingyuan Museum was officially inaugurated at Zhengjue Temple in Yuanmingyuan (Old Summer Palace), with the "Inheritance and Safeguard: Exhibition on Conservation Achievements of Yuanmingyuan Cultural Relics" unveiled at the same time.
The museum covers an area of 14,300 square meters and a floor area of 3,649 square meters. Its exhibitions are housed in various architectural structures within Zhengjue Temple including the Shanmen Gate, Zhonggulou (Bell and Drum Towers), Tianwang Hall, Dongxiwufo Hall, Sansheng Hall, Wenshu Hall, Dongliudajingang Hall, Zuishang Building.

As you step into the temple, more than 230 pieces (sets) of cultural relics and exhibits vividly showcase the profound historical culture and rich achievements in the cultural relic preservation of Yuanmingyuan. Displayed in the Zuishang Building, these seven Han-style white marble pillars which were just returned to China, are the star exhibits of the museum. According to the preliminary judgment given by the relevant experts following examination, these pillars once stood in the ruined Western Mansion area. Despite showing slight weathering marks, they are well-preserved. Each pillar features flower-shaped reliefs and geometric motifs that look like tangling branches, all demonstrating the exquisite craftsmanship.

Apart from the exquisite architectural components of Yuanmingyuan, the bronze horse head, the gilt copper elephant head, and other precious relics are also exhibited in the museum.
