Covering an area of approximately 1,142 hectares in the western region of Shijingshan District and being adjacent to the Yongding River, Beijing Winter Olympics Park has made the most of the natural resources, local historical and cultural elements, and industrial heritage to restore its ecosystem and improve the environment quality, creating an open, shared urban waterfront area featuring the harmony of waters and plants, and the balance of city views and natural environment. In addition to serving as a public space, the park showcases the culture of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
Beijing Winter Olympics Park, with a variety of featured scenic spots including the "Ice Forest", "Qiaojian Tiandi" (which literally means "World under the Bridge") recreational space, and "Jinghua Shuiyun" (which literally means "Watery Charm of Beijing") scenic spot, is connected to landmarks nearby such as the Shougang Park, the Big Air, and the New Shougang Bridge, forming a vibrant and green urban oasis. To date, the park has attracted more than 1.5 million visitors and also serves as a new popular site featuring the unique charm of Shijingshan District in the western region of Beijing.
The Beijing Winter Olympics Park is renowned for having the first enclosed marathon route in Beijing. The 42-kilometer-long riverside route is famous for its unique local features, picturesque scenery, and top-notch services. The route seamlessly integrates various elements, such as the Yongding River, Xishan National Forest Park, the industrial heritage of Shougang Park, and the cultural elements of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, to establish a smooth greenway for strolling and running with intelligent facilities, riverside scenery, stunning park landscapes, and scenic riverbanks.
Furthermore, the park has established various running tracks to cater to the needs of different runners. There is a 21-kilometer-long half marathon track available for professional runners, a ten-kilometer-long night running track that is suitable for office workers who prefer running activities during the night, and a two-kilometer-long parent-child running track that allows families to run together.
