Beijing has worked hard to promote transportation infrastructure over the past eight years, forming a one-hour commuting circle in the core area of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

In the process of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integration, regional coordination in transportation has become a reality. The one-hour commuting circle has basically taken shape in the core area of the three areas, bringing convenience to residents in the three areas.

With the opening of the Beijing Daxing International Airport at the end of September 2019, the construction of the "dual hub" pattern of Beijing's two airport economic zones has been accelerated, as the city's annual passenger throughput has exceeded 100 million.

Several high-speed railways, including the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway, the Beijing-Chengde section of the Beijing-Harbin high-speed railway, and the Beijing-Xiongan intercity railway have opened to traffic. A national railway network, with Beijing and Tianjin serving as the core hubs and connecting all the cities in Hebei, has been basically formed.

According to Zhao Yang, director of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Traffic Integration Coordination Office under the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, the development of transportation infrastructure has effectively improved the allocation efficiency of social resources in the three areas, and is conducive to the optimization of regional industrial structure.

Additionally, inter-province bus lines are making it easier for people to commune between the three areas. A total of 38 bus lines in Beijing have been in operation to connect with 17 neighboring districts and cities in Hebei. Moreover, commuters can now use one metro card in the public transportation network throughout the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Meanwhile, the Beijing-Xiongan expressway and three other expressway projects are under construction in Beijing.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), Beijing plans to build a sound, well-connected transportation network, improve connectivity with Xiongan New Area, and ease the traffic volume that passes through the city with new expressways.
