The Sixth Chinese Opera Culture Week to Kick Off in Beijing

The sixth Chinese Opera Culture Week will kick off in Beijing on Friday and stage about 400 performances and activities, according to a municipal press conference held on Monday.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Beijing municipal government, the opera week this year will feature new and innovated performances and activities.

About 400 online and offline activities will allow visitors to experience opera culture by immersing themselves in opera performances and exhibitions, interactive games, and cultural fairs with innovative products.

The academic forums will host directors, screenwriters, and actors to discuss a multitude of topics such as the modernization and inheritance of operas, international communication and exchange on operas, and market development of opera performances.

In the Chinese gardens of Beijing Garden Expo Park, visitors can appreciate the scenery as well as professional performances of Peking Opera, Kun Opera, and so on. Livestreams of the performances will be available on various online platforms.

A variety of activities will also be available at the expo park including interactive outdoor games, exhibitions on Beijing's development of opera, and shopping areas offering creative products.

The Chinese Opera Culture Week will last through Nov. 10.
