On August 1, the Ice Sports Centre on the ground floor of the South Square of the National Aquatics Centre (Water Cube/Ice Cube) starts trial operation. The center will be officially opened on August 8, opening another place for the public to experience ice skating in the summer.
The Ice Cube is the venue for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games curling competition and has been described by Ms. Kate, President of the World Curling Federation, as "one of the best venues for curling". The Ice Cube Ice Sports Centre is a key legacy of the Winter Olympics, with two ice rinks, a standard 1830 m2 rink, and a 900 m2 professional curling rink.
The Ice Cube’s Ice Sports Centre is located 11 meters below the South Square of the Water Cube, with the entrance in an umbrella structure on the ground of the South Square. The ice sports center has an overall construction area of about 8000 m2, consisting of a standard ice rink of 1830 m2 and a standard curling rink with four 45m*5m rinks and supportive services around it.
According to the plan, after the Winter Olympic Games, it will become a comprehensive ice project platform integrating seven functions: holding high-quality ice events, public ice fitness, professional ice training, sports tourism landmark, ice performance platform, curling promotion, and Winter Olympic cultural base.
The 1830 m2 standard ice rink is now open for reservation. The public can purchase tickets through the "Water Cube" WeChat official account. Tickets are only RMB 70 per person on weekdays and RMB 90 on holidays, and you can enjoy 120 minutes of ice skating. The ice-skating ticket includes 120 minutes of experience time (calculated by the time of entering and exiting the gates) and skates, protective equipment, and temporary lockers for free. Ice skating assistants are available at an additional cost of RMB 50 per hour. Children under 14 years old can redeem one free accompanying ticket with their skating ticket.
From August 1, the Ice Sports Centre is open from 10:00 to 21:00, with the latest admission time of 19:00 and a clearance time of 21:00.
During the regular period of epidemic prevention and control, the Ice Sports Centre will take measures to limit the flow of 175 people per session. Bookings and ticket sales will be closed if the flow exceeds the limit. Visitors entering by appointment will strictly adhere to the epidemic prevention and control measures and the 72-hour nucleic acid negative certificate must be checked before entering the Ice Sports Function Centre.
