Sited on Dongdan North Street in Beijing’s Dongcheng District, Dahua City Center for the Performing Arts, formerly known as Dahua Cinema, was built in 1926. The cinema was closed to the public in 2008 for renewal and has now become a comprehensive art institution that not only possesses performance venues but also contains art groups and entertainment agencies. The center includes multiple halls for operas, concerts, rehearsals, a variety of theaters for varying locations and purposes, and a public art space. The center has gone into trial operation since the end of June 2022.

The center was designed based on a people-oriented concept. Admiration and respect for actors, audiences and artists can be reflected in the design throughout the dressing rooms, rehearsal halls and restrooms.
