Days ago saw the unveiling of the Strategic Action Plan for Building Global Center for S&T Innovation in Beijing during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period, which was jointly compiled by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Beijing Municipality with more than 20 state authorities. The plan proposes to implement industry-driven projects in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to improve the planning for innovation and industrial chains, stress the coordinated regional development, and build a Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei national technological innovation center.
Building the global hub for science and technology innovation will be guided by major needs of the nation and will be solidified with breakthroughs in core technologies ensured by industrial strengths of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. The projects will promote systematic development of the regional S&T innovation capacity, and also boost in-depth collaboration in R&D and application of common industrial technologies of the region to build a regional technological innovation network of close collaboration and efficient coordination.
Li Meng, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, said that Beijing Zhongguancun Science Park has built local parks in Binhai District of Tianjin and Baoding and the Xiongan New Area of Hebei Province, not only promoting local high-quality development, but also advancing coordinated allocation and efficient utilization of resources for science and technology innovation in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.
In the future, more innovation ecosystems like Zhongguancun science parks will be created to facilitate the commercialization of hard science and technology results of Beijing and Tianjin in Hebei and other places and to promote greater integration of innovation chains and industrial chains of the region.
