Hi, I am Pei Lin, host of Beijing Radio & Television Station. Species extinction is a major disaster for the earth in the 21st century. Due to human activities, the extinction rate of species is one thousand times faster than the natural rate. On average, one species becomes extinct every hour, which is quite astonishing. It is time for us to take actions to protect biodiversity, and it is the common responsibility of every person on earth. This year, May 22nd is the 29th International Day for Biological Diversity, which is themed “Building a shared future for all life”. Let us all take actions to build a beautiful world of harmonious coexistence.
