On December 16, the exhibition "Marquis of Haihun: A Journey Through Imperial Glory and the Rise and Fall of the Han Dynasty" will open to the public at the Luxian Ancient City Relics Museum. With 108 artifacts and sets unearthed from the Marquis of Haihun tomb, this exhibition marks that the National Archaeological Site Park of Nanchang Han Dynasty Haihun Marquis and the Luxian Ancient City Archaeological Park will, for the first time, present a cross-regional comparative perspective of "southern marquisate and northern commandery-county". This dual-site approach can shed new light on the institutional framework of the Western Han, where marquisate states and centrally governed commanderies coexisted.

As a hereditary marquisate of the Western Han, the Haihunhou State reserved an urban layout based on the ancient city of Zijin. Goldware, ritual vessels, and Confucian classics discovered from the tomb of Liu He highlight the autonomy, cultural traditions, and elite lifestyle associated with a marquisate.
By contrast, Luxian Ancient City is a centrally administered commandery-county, featuring a practical, orderly urban layout, with excavated artifacts primarily consisting of everyday utensils and workshop remains. One in the south and one in the north — one a marquisate, the other a commandery-county — the two sites together paint a complete picture of the political, economic, and cultural landscape of the Western Han Dynasty.
