Changping District, located in northwestern Beijing, covers an area of 1,343.5 square kilometers, with a history of 6,000 years of civilization and 2,000 years of establishment. The district is a well-known cultural tourism destination where two World Heritage Sites are located, namely the Ming Tombs and the Juyongguan Great Wall. It is a district of innovation and vitality, striving to build the main platform of the National Sci-Tech Innovation Center and better contribute to the high-quality development of the capital.
By the end of 2024, Changping's permanent population reached 2.27 million, and its GDP amounted to 181.19 billion yuan.
The district is home to numerous universities, research institutes, and high-tech enterprises, making it a vital part of the core area of the Zhongguancun National Innovation Demonstration Zone. It is striving to build an internationally renowned science and education hub.
Beijing is developing three major cultural belts: Grand Canal, Great Wall, and Xishan-Yongding River. Changping is the only district that undertakes part of the tasks of all three belts. Currently, it is implementing the Changping Historical and Cultural Landmark Project, constructing Baifuquan Heritage Park at the Grand Canal's source, enhancing the protection of cultural heritage and various relics, and developing the Ming Tombs Gateway Service Area and a distinctive cultural creativity zone in New City East District.
