Lianhuachi Park (Lotus Pond Park), which is a Beijing Municipal Class I Historic Site Park, is one of the city's most popular summer destinations for admiring lotus flowers. Home to a wide variety of these flowers, the park comes alive in midsummer, evoking a breathtaking scene that is described in a famous Song Dynasty verse: "Green lotus leaves outspread as far as boundless sky, pink lotus blossoms take from sunshine a new dye".
