Summer in Beijing can be relentless, yet pockets of cool tranquility can still be found throughout the city. This summer, Madelyn Arnold from Canada visited the China National Botanical Garden at the foot of Beijing's Western Hills, and captured a series of photographs showcasing what she saw as a refreshing Beijing. Rather than the cool air from an air conditioner, her images celebrate blooming flowers, rain-kissed water lily ponds, and leisurely moments in the shade of trees.
