January is the perfect time for outdoor ice skating in Beijing. Let's take a look at some must-visit ice rinks in the city.

Shichahai Rink

The Houhai Ice Rink officially opened on January 20, covering a total area of 100,000 square meters. It includes three main areas: a speed skating area, a training area, and a general area.

Ticket Prices

Houhai Speed Skating Area: 30 yuan per person on weekdays, 40 yuan per person on weekends and holidays.

Houhai General Area:100 yuan per person, with the same price on weekends and holidays, shared with Qianhai Ice Rink.

Houhai Training Area: Prices are subject to on-site notices.

Operating Hours

All areas of Houhai Ice Rink: 8:00–17:00;

Qianhai Ice Rink: 8:00–21:00

Summer Palace's Ice Rink

The Summer Palace's Kunming Lake Ice Rink opened on January 20. This year, digital ticket-purchasing screens have been installed at the four dock entrances. Visitors can easily buy skating equipment tickets by scanning the QR code on these screens with their mobile phones, and then enter the venue by verifying their e-tickets.

The ice rink will remain open until February 4, operating daily from 8:30 to 17:00, with last entry at 16:30 and clearing starting at 17:00 (subject to weather conditions).

Peking University's Weiming Lake Ice Rink

Peking University's Weiming Lake Ice Rink has been open to visitors since January 17. Visitors can enjoy skating by making a reservation for campus entry. The rink is open daily from 9:00 to 16:00.

Skates and ice bikes are available for rent. Visitors can book rentals on-site by scanning a QR code or make a reservation one day in advance through the "Smart Venues" section of the Peking University App. Skate rental costs 20 yuan per hour, while ice bike rental is 40 yuan per hour, both with a 200 yuan deposit. Bringing your own skates incurs no additional charge. Equipment can be collected at the southwest gate of the First Gymnasium (for skates) and designated areas within the ice rink (for ice bikes). To return equipment, simply scan the code to stop the rental timer.
