On March 21, the "Festive Spring" 2023 Beijing Cultural Tourism Consumption Event commenced in Beijing. Ten spring flower viewing routes themed on "Wandering in Beijing" were recommended by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, which cover the featured flower viewing sites in the 16 districts and Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area of the capital and provide tourists with diverse and attractive choices for outings and flower viewing.
The event is the first cultural tourism activity carried out jointly by the city and relevant districts this year to promote consumption and is also part of the major cultural tourism activities of the first Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Consumption Season. The 2023 Beijing Cultural Tourism Consumption Event is driven by the consumption season throughout the year and expected to create new cultural tourism consumption scenarios in an active manner.
During the event, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism released the 2023 list of ten spring flower viewing routes themed on "Wandering in Beijing". The ten routes are generally designed based on the locations of flower viewing sites. In the eastern region of Beijing, visitors can take a leisurely stroll alongside crabapple trees at Yuan Dadu City Wall Ruins Park and admire tulips at Zhongshan Park. Tourists in the western region of Beijing can enjoy beautiful peonies in Jingshan Park and cherry blossoms in Yuyuantan Park. In Beijing's districts such as Yanqing, Mentougou and Huairou, tourists can experience the charm of biodiversity.
Six micro-vacation destinations in Beijing have joined the event as the first group of participants. The six destinations, located in districts such as Dongcheng, Mentougou, Huairou, Pinggu, Miyun, and Yanqing, will organize over 40 different activities to promote consumption, including spring outings in parks, cycling, camping trips, farming, fine food tasting, and featured markets.
Additionally, the event unveiled Mentougou District flower viewing posters and maps, photography competitions, and sightseeing activity under the theme of Western Beijing Springtime Flower Season. Exhibitions showcasing intangible cultural heritage items and cultural and creative products are also set up in various regions such as Mentougou District, Shijingshan District, and Huailai and Zhuolu counties of Hebei.
At the event, Mentougou District collaborated with Hebei Province's Huailai and Zhuolu counties to recommend five Beijing-Hebei routes featuring spring outings and flower viewing, intangible cultural heritage items, and folk customs. These routes cover popular scenic areas such as Hundred-Li Lake and Mountain Gallery of Yongding River, Jietai Temple, Tanzhe Temple, Gushan Village Scenic Spot, "Mentougou Xiao Yuan" (courtyards) B&Bs, and the hot flower viewing sites in Huailai and Zhuolu counties, providing tourists with diversified options to enjoy their holidays. These efforts are expected to build Mentougou District into a destination for international mountain sports and tourism as well as one of the best micro-vacation areas in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region.
The culture and tourism departments of Beijing and Hebei Province's Zhuolu and Huailai counties (Zhangjiakou City) have established an alliance for western Beijing tourism and a "Great Western Beijing tourism ecosystem" to promote the integrated development of culture and tourism with high standards and build close cooperation.
