Led by the famous conductor Jonathan Nott, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande will return to the stage of the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) on July 3 after a six-year hiatus. Beijing will be the first and only Chinese stop of the orchestra's Asian Tour!
The musicians will perform Igor Stravinsky's "Petrushka" and "The Rite of Spring" for the audience in Beijing, with both of them being groundbreaking masterpieces in the 20th-century music history. The orchestra will also join hands with George Li, a post-90s Chinese pianist, to present the "Piano Concerto in G Major" to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel's birth.
In addition to offline music offers, there are also dazzling online performances!
The highlights of the first BPAC Urban Forest Park Music Week will be released online at 19:30 on July 5. The online performances will include rearranged rock hits by the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra under the leadership of conductor Li Biao in crossover collaboration with Chinese musician Luan Shu, as well as newly adapted and exclusive romantic love songs jointly presented by famous singer Victor Wong and China NCPA Chorus.
The China National Opera House will present "Hansel & Gretel", a fairy-tale opera composed by German composer Engelbert Humperdinck. The whole production will be performed in German with Chinese subtitles. The innovative projection technology combined with steampunk-style mechanical elements onstage will bring magical scenes to life in front of the audience, aimed at perfectly reproducing the warm and magical fairy world created by Humperdinck.
As the most famous performers in their respective fields today, Jan Vogler and Chen Sa have both performed on the stage of NCPA many times. This time, they will co-present five cello and piano sonatas composed by Ludwig van Beethoven.
NCPA will present Verdi's opera "La Traviata" online on July 26. Yu Long, the conductor, will lead the famous singers, including Ekaterina Bakanova, Shi Yijie and Liao Changyong, to sing classic excerpts from the opera, such as "Libiamo ne' lieti calici", "È strano!" and "Un di, felice, eterea", to movingly portray the poignant love story between the Parisian courtesan Violetta and the young Alfred.
