For cycling and running enthusiasts, these smooth and scenic routes are not to be missed.
Route I: Riverside Sightseeing Routes
Along the Kunyu River

Running along the waterfront pathways on both sides of the Kunyu River, starting near the South Ruyi Gate of the Summer Palace and heading south, you'll pass Changchun Bridge and Chedaogou Bridge, eventually reaching the West Gate of Yuyuantan Park or continuing along the Yongding River Diversion Channel. Dedicated waterfront paths feature mostly level terrain, with particularly picturesque scenery in the morning and evening.
Greenway along the Qinghe River

Running and cycling are both possible on the Qinghe River Area Waterfront Greenway. The starting point can be set near Zhufang Road close to Qinghe MIXC ONE, heading eastward along the path as the greenway extends northward. Featuring smooth pavement with clear markings and complete physical separation from motor vehicle lanes, the route ensures high safety. Excellent greenery and broad views accompany travelers throughout the journey.
Nanchang River

Running westward along the Nanchang River behind Beijing Zoo's back gate, you will pass Gaoliang Bridge and can continue running to the vicinity of Jiaoda East Road or even reach Dazhong Temple, traversing areas including Beijing Jiaotong University where a strong academic atmosphere prevails, with moderate foot traffic and relative tranquility throughout the route.
Route II: Jogging Route

Smart Runway Track in Haidian Park
A standard 400-meter rubberized athletic track has been installed in Haidian Park. This smart pathway enables runners to register via facial recognition or a mini-program, after which large screens along the track display real-time running data, set within a picturesque park setting complemented by a positive running atmosphere throughout the facility.
Route III: Landmarks Sightseeing Routes
Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park
The park's spacious area offers highly flexible route options, with classic routes including:
Fuhai Lake Circuit: approximately 2.5 kilometers, featuring expansive waters and serving as the core scenic area;
Changchun Garden Water System: winds through between the Western-style ruins and the garden's waterways, allowing visitors to experience historical vicissitudes and natural beauty; and
Grand Park Loop Circuit: allows one to run over 10 kilometers while exploring different areas.
Beiwu Park & Yudong Suburban Park & Jinhe

The area is adjacent to the West Gate of the Summer Palace, featuring the core section of the Three Hills and Five Gardens Greenway traversing its interior. The routes remain flexible and the Jinhe Road (between Summer Palace West Gate Road and Minzhuang Road Section) and the parallel Beiwucun Road have professional running tracks installed.
Cycling and Running Safety Guidelines
Try to avoid peak hours and high-temperature periods. When running at night, choose well-lit routes with relatively higher pedestrian traffic and wear reflective gear. Remain vigilant about road conditions and abide by traffic rules during cycling and running.
