On the evening of June 30, the "Sleepless Gui Street" sub-event of the 2023 Beijing Consumption Season was launched. Gui Street is one of the 24 "Integrated Consumption Spots" of Beijing, and lots of efforts have been invested in building it into a street for gourmets. This sub-event will last until August 31.
Gui Street is a typical street characterized by its "night economy". Over the past three decades, local specialties including spicy crayfish, pepper-flavored bullfrog and grilled fish, as well as time-honored choices like Peking duck and copper hotpot lamb, have all contributed to the continuity of the local food culture and are renowned as the "12 Gastronomical Delights of Gui Street".
On June 30, 10 restaurant owners who grew their business here and enhanced the reputation of the street over the years were awarded with plaques that symbolize their contribution. By doing this, the organizing party of the sub-event aims to encourage all the awarded ones to promote the local food culture with greater efforts, continue to protect the time-honored specialties, and keep on maintaining the images of prominent brands along the street.
The "Sleepless Gui Street" this year has attracted nearly 70 prominent brands. An online discount campaign has been launched in collaboration with Meituan which will build a main venue for encouraging consumption during the sub-event. Every day, each consumer can get a one-time preferential subsidy via Meituan App, which can be used after the total money spent reaches a specific amount, allowing all consumers to enjoy extra discounts while trying local food.
