The Summer Palace Museum is affiliated with the Management Office of the Summer Palace in Beijing. It was registered at Beijing Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics on July 2, 2021. The museum is located on the east side of Wenchang Pavilion of the Summer Palace which is a World Cultural Heritage site listed by UNESCO. The museum also serves as important venue for protection, research, exhibition and exchanges regarding cultural relics in the Summer Palace.

The collection of artifacts of the Summer Palace Museum mainly comes from the Qing Dynasty, and there are nearly 40,000 existing cultural relics in the museum. Among them, there are 20,000 first-class, second-class, and third-level precious cultural relics. The time span of the collection extends from the Shang and Zhou dynasties to modern times. The cultural relics housed there are tangible witnesses to the more than 3000 years of Chinese civilization history. The museum's collection of cultural relics includes bronze, porcelain, and jade artifacts, calligraphic works, and paintings, covering nearly all categories of Chinese cultural relics passed down from generation to generation. The Summer Palace Museum owns the largest number and variety of cultural relics of the highest grades among all the Chinese classical gardens.

From November 1 to March 31 of the next year: 07:00 to 19:00 (no entry after 17:00)
