The Beijing Planetarium is the first large-scale planetarium in Asia. Building A was set up and opened to public in 1957. Building B was completed and opened at the end of 2004. Building A and Building B combined perfectly together, forming a splendid landscape in Beijing. Beijing Planetarium is still the unique specialized venues in the Chinese mainland for popularizing astronomical knowledge to public and teaching astronomy to teenagers. Its activities include starry sky show on the doom screen in the venues; exhibition and display of astronomic knowledge, astronomical instruments and cultural relics of ancient China; editing, publishing and issuing books and magazines on astronomy; organizing astronomy lectures, astronomical observation, astronomic knowledge contest, teaching of fundamental astronomy. Beijing Planetarium attracts its audience from generation to generation through unique demonstration means.
