This year's Beijing Children's Reading Month was launched at the Beijing Youth Palace on June 1. Themed "Happy Reading Leads to Healthy Growth," the reading month is the key brand activity of the 13th Beijing Reading Festival.

The 2023 Capital's Best Reading Contest for Primary and Middle School Students is open for entries of short videos from June. All winning submissions will be publicized and displayed in October after evaluation.

Within the next month, all the city's brick-and-mortar bookstores and reading rooms will hold a series of reading week activities featuring four themes. Special sections for children's book exhibitions & sales will be set up in the Beijing Book Building, Zhongguancun Book Building and some small and medium-sized branches of Xinhua Bookstore.

This June, the "I Love Beijing" initiative calls for entries from kids and teenagers aged between 6 and 18 worldwide, hoping that children will depict the Beijing in their own minds through articles and paintings. Submissions will be open until the end of July. After the expert panel's evaluation, the selected works will be included in the "I Love Beijing" collection, which is scheduled to be published by the Beijing Publishing House in October.

In addition, reading activities such as the final contest of Sinology Classics Chanting, Reading Stations in Communities, and Children's Book-Crossing Campaign will also take place during June.
