The popular rickshaw-based hutong tour in the historic Shichahai area has been fully upgraded. It now combines guided rickshaw rides, time-honored local delicacies and traditional tea culture into one seamless journey. Centered around a carefully designed route, the tour links together scenic landmarks, time-honored restaurants and teahouses. While preserving the original charm and cultural depth of classic hutong tours, the tour now provides richer and more varied options for cultural and tourism consumption.
As they move through the narrow lanes, rickshaw pullers share insights into the area's history and traditions. The route covers major attractions such as the Prince Kung's Mansion, the Former Residence of Soong Ching-ling, Yinding Bridge, and the Drum Tower, showcasing the unique charm of the Shichahai area.
The itinerary also includes stops at time-honored restaurants such as Tongheju (同和居) and Makai (马凯). With guidance from the rickshaw pullers, visitors can enjoy a delightful culinary journey without needing to consult travel guides, and can receive digital discounts by scanning QR codes on-site. In addition, Yi Zi Diao (乙字调), a new-Chinese-style tea shop located on the Beijing Central Axis, serves as an ideal spot for rest and photo-taking. The upgraded tour allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the hutong atmosphere, through sightseeing, dining and relaxing, in one well-rounded journey.
