Beihai Park: Qingfeng Steamed Stuffed Bun Restaurant

As China's earliest, most completely preserved, and culturally rich classical imperial garden, Beihai Park is a must-visit for many tourists. This year marks its centennial as a public park. The time-honored Qingfeng Steamed Bun Restaurant operates a branch here, located at the southern end of Qionghua Island in the middle of the lake. Local dishes like steamed buns and stir-fried liver are highly recommended.

Northern End of Beijing Central Axis: Huguosi Snack Restaurant (Di'anmen Branch)

Last year, the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention passed a resolution to include "Beijing Central Axis: A Building Ensemble Exhibiting the Ideal Order of the Chinese Capital" in the World Heritage List. Many visitors now include the Central Axis on their must-visit list. At the northern end of the Central Axis, Huguosi Snack Restaurant (Di'anmen Branch) is known for its braised chicken, traditional low-sugar pastries, and Naipizi yogurt.

South of the Drum Tower and across from Yandai Xiejie, this time-honored restaurant is featured on the Central Axis specialty culinary list. Specializing in lamb and beef paomo (breadcrumb soup), it also offers affordable and authentic options such as kebabs, liangpi (cold skin noodles), and zenggao (steamed glutinous rice cake).

Shichahai is an essential stop for exploring Beijing. The Yinding Bridge is one of its famous landmarks, offering a classic view of distant hills. Besides its Beijing-style roasted meat, the restaurant serves classic snacks like aiwowo (a halal-style snack made with glutinous rice) and pea flour cakes, along with innovative Beijing-style dishes. Due to its proximity to Shichahai, many visitors explore Huguo Temple Street, which is named after the Huguo Temple first built in the Yuan Dynasty. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, this street became a bustling commercial area in Beijing. It now still features historical sites like the Vajra Hall of Huguo Temple, Mei Lanfang's former residence, the People's Theater, and the former site of Prince Qing's Mansion. Huifeng Mending Meat Pie Restaurant on the street is famous for its signature mending meat pies, a must-try Beijing specialty. To cater to different tastes, the shop has also developed variations of the meat pie with fillings such as shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, eggs, and shrimp. These are available in limited quantities every day.

The Miaoying Temple Neighborhood, including Gongmenkou Dongcha and Xicha hutongs, has been recognized as a municipal-level distinctive consumption block, one of Beijing's most beautiful streets/alleys and walking routes.
