Between 2021 and 2025, Beijing continued to broaden the scope and enhance the impact of its international engagement, with the number of its sister cities (including friendship cities) at both municipal and district levels growing to 287. The city has fostered friendships around the globe.
Over the five years, more than 8,000 additional foreign-invested companies were set up in Beijing, along with over 100 international schools; a total of 18 medical institutions piloting international services were also launched. The city's international environment has seen a significant improvement, leading to the continuous enhancement of the city's global influence, attractiveness, and reputation.
Beijing's international environment has also seen remarkable improvements. The "Beijing Service" airport service counters have been set up, providing over 20 most requested services for foreigners. The launch of "BEIJING PASS" (transportation cards) enables seamless access to transportation, tickets to tourist attractions, and shopping, while the city's subway system has been equipped with the "tap-to-ride" function supporting bank cards of five major global payment service providers. Additionally, new integrated products combining bank and SIM cards have helped address minor yet important issues in payment, transportation, and connectivity.
