"She can not only understand your words but also grasp your intentions, and even proactively provide assistance when you are busy," explained Zhu Songchun, the Director of Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence. "Tongtong" is the world's first embodied general-purpose artificial intelligence system prototype. It is based on an original cognitive architecture theoretical framework and an independently developed learning and reasoning framework, endowed with a unique "mind". After being tested by the General Artificial Intelligence Rating Standard and TongTest (a testing platform), it currently behaves like a 3 to 4-year-old child.

It is learned that with continuous upgrades, it can serve as a universal base, supporting various vertical application scenarios and creating millions of "general-purpose intelligent digital persons" to empower numerous industries. In the meantime, "Tongtong" can also be integrated with embodied intelligent robots to bring revolutionary changes to fields such as intelligent manufacturing, smart cities, and healthcare.
