Beijing Set up Pro Bono Legal Service Group for Olympic Winter Games

As the countdown to the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 begins, the Beijing Lawyers Association and the Beijing Arbitration Commission (Beijing International Arbitration Centre) have recently established the Pro Bono Legal Service Group, drawing upon the specialist resources of the capital's public interest lawyers in support of the Games.

The  group is comprised of 23 professional attorneys specialized in  foreign-related sports arbitration and dispute resolution with a strong  command of English. The operation is under the joint steerage of the  Beijing Lawyers Association and the Beijing Arbitration Commission (Beijing International Arbitration Centre), who have set up a public email address and a contact number for consulting and legal engagement  services.

In line with international practice, the  group is open for all athletes participating in the Games from around the globe who are in need of pro bono legal services. The Services provided include: (i) providing legal consultations; (ii) agency  services for sports dispute resolution, i.e., according to the entrustment of the parties, representing the parties to initiate or respond to the procedures initiated before the CAS Divisions; (iii) other legal services.
