Themed "Masters and Celebrations", the 24th Beijing Music Festival (BMF) is to be held from October 9 to October 24. Altogether 20 major concerts consisting of 18 different performances will be given to cover varying genres such as symphony, opera, vocal performances, chamber music, percussion, film scores, and more.

The 24th BMF will both pay tribute to the masters and look back on the classics by intertwining the two themes of saluting to masters and celebrating with China. Many classical masterpieces will be performed, including pieces by Chinese composers Guo Wenjing, Chen Qigang, Tan Dun and Ding Shande.

Audiences at the festival will be able to gain a new appreciation for recent music in the traditional Chinese and classical style at the brand new "Music Carnival" in Taikoo Li Sanlitun, Beijing from October 16 to October 17. The Carnival will feature a parade, afternoon tea with musical accompaniment, audio-visual shows,  a secret garden, stadium performances, and more.

At the same time, the "Online Music Festival" will return this year and feature over 10 livestreamed concerts. The tracks played during the live concerts will also be made available online.

The BMF has always been the perfect stage for young musicians, and this year is no different. 9 concerts consisting of 7 different performances will be held October 16-23, with a majority of them featuring younger musicians.

A brand new sub-project of BMF, the first "Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao Youth Music Art Carnival" will be held in Beijing from August 16 to August 26, 2021. The carnival will consist of classes, lectures, orchestra rehearsals, concerts, etc. Professor Namula, a famous educator, cellist and president of the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School, has been appointed as the art director of the carnival. In addition, Lang Lang, Lü  Siqing, Wang Jian, Yang Yang and many well-known professors from the Central Conservatory of Music have been invited as tutors.

There will be also brilliant public-interest performances and activities during the 24th BMF this October, including Children's concerts, midday concerts, master classes and guided tours.
