In 2020, Varian Medical Systems, Inc. moved the production line of TrueBeam, a HyperArc technology-based high-end linear accelerator, to its China R&D and production facility in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA). Despite the difficulties faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, Varian not only pushed ahead with the expansion project, but also doubled its investment. Capacity is expected to reach 400 units per year by the end of 2021.

TrueBeam high-end intelligent medical linear accelerators manufactured in China have been shipped to Europe and other international markets. The product has now received regulatory approval in 141 countries and provides radiation therapy for approximately 1.5 million patients with tumors worldwide each year.

Varian, the world's largest supplier of integrated radiotherapy equipment, invested in a factory in BDA 14 years ago. In Varian's Beijing facility, the medical linear accelerator referred to as "Halcyon" was created, enabling 100% image-guided radiotherapy for the first time in the world. In March 2020, the TrueBeam high-end linear accelerator production line was moved to Varian's China R&D and production site in BDA. The TrueBeam high-end linear accelerator is particularly well suited for treating more complex tumors such as lung, breast, prostate and head and neck cancers.
