According to Beijing Customs District P.R. China, customs services across China processed a total of 3,485 ATA Carnets in the first two months of 2024, indicating a year-on-year increase of 97 percent. These customs documents, which reduce operating costs and time for businesses, are making companies' cross-border trade activities more efficient, therefore gaining international exposure.

Beijing is the first city in China to implement an electronic system for global ATA Carnets, which provides "electronic passports" for fast clearance for temporarily imported and exported goods. It is reported that a holder of an ATA Carnet only needs to present the QR code in the ATA Carnet App to the customs services when entering or exiting Beijing's ports, and the on-site officer will scan the code using a tablet computer to access the electronic data of the ATA Carnet. After verifying the information, the officer will electronically endorse it and release the corresponding goods.
