Recently, citizens spotted more than 10 little egrets, grey herons, and cormorants playfully frolicking on the Yongding River in Shijingshan.
In recent years, a stable population of reed parrotbill—often called the "giant pandas of birds"—has been discovered in the Shijingshan section of the river. Other species, such as the bearded reedling, crested kingfisher, and common kingfisher, are also sighted frequently. This year, smew and booted eagle, both listed as national second-class protected species of China, have also been spotted. Together, these findings underscore the remarkable ecological restoration and environmental improvement along the Yongding River in Shijingshan.
