On October 16, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People's Republic of China informed the media in September about the national air quality from January to September of this year.

The proportion of days with good air quality in Beijing in September was 76.7 percent, up 13.4 percentage points year-on-year and 26.7 percentage points compared with the same period in 2019. The PM2.5 concentration was 29 micrograms per cubic meter, representing a year-on-year drop of 3.3 percent, and down 19.4 percent compared with the same period in 2019. In September, there were no days with air pollution levels exceeding the established standards in the city due to sandy and dusty weather.

The percentage of days with good air quality in Beijing from January to September was 70.3 percent, down 6.6 percentage points year-on-year and up 9.9 percentage points compared with the same period in 2019.
