The main event was the final event of a series of activities in Commemorative Serial Events For the 50th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention, which was rich in content and received great attention. Chen Mingjie, Secretary of Party Group and Director of Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau, Zhang Yong, Secretary of Party Committee and Director of Beijing Municipal Administration Center of Parks attended the event. 

Representatives of UNESCO Beijing Office, Cultural Office of UNESCO Bangkok Office, Beijing World Cultural Heritage Protection Agency, cultural and tourism Bureau of the area where the heritage site is located, cultural heritage protection experts and other online participants attended the event.

During the event, Chen Mingjie released the handbook "World Heritage in Beijing", which is the first time to promote the world cultural heritage in Beijing under the brand "World Heritage in Beijing". The handbook intends to use the selected pictures to intuitively show the infinite beauty and charm of the World cultural heritage to the whole society. It vividly expresses the outstanding universal value of each heritage, and pays tribute to all those who have cared for, loved and protected the World Cultural heritage in Beijing over the years.

There are 7 world heritage sites in Beijing, which is the city with the most world heritage sites in our country. Since 1987, Beijing has continuously improved the interpretation level of heritage management in accordance with the protection concepts and standards of world cultural heritage, and gradually formed a cultural heritage protection system with Beijing characteristics that includes multiple subjects, multiple funds and multiple values. Professor Xia Zehan, representative of UNESCO Beijing Office, gave a special speech, fully affirming the protection of Beijing World Heritage and placing great expectations on the future protection of heritage.

In recent years, Beijing heritage protection has achieved a series of latest research results. Chen Tongbin, chief planner of the China Architectural Design and Research Institute and honorary director of the Institute of Architectural History, introduced the final results of the major project "Research on the Heritage Value of the Overall Protection of the Capital Core Area" undertaken by the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau, which lasted three years. Tang Yuyang, former executive vice president of the Research Institute of Architectural Heritage of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, introduced Beijing's innovative exploration and effective protection results in the protection of the Great Wall.

Aiming at the new starting point of the protection of World Heritage sites in Beijing in the next 50 years, the "five adherence treaties" is proposed. The purpose is not only to enhance the cohesion of the World Heritage sites in Beijing, show the protection results, actively draw on the valuable nutrition of the world cultural heritage in terms of value recognition and cultural inheritance, learn from each other, and realize innovative development. It will also strive to provide a "Beijing model" for building an overall world cultural heritage community and promoting the protection of famous historical and cultural cities.
