The 2023 Global Digital Economy Conference will be held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing from July 4 to 7, aiming to showcase the charm of the digital economy, combining "the online with the on-site, and virtual reality with reality". The "Digital Night - Lighting the Pulse of the City" activity will be held during the opening ceremony on July 4, using digital technology to light up iconic city landmarks in Beijing, Lhasa, Singapore City and other cities across ASEAN and the Himalayas, jointly lighting up the "pulse" of Beijing. The first China Digital Concert and several in-person interactive activities will also be held to build the city's digital image and bring a sense of participation and ritual to the conference. Beijing residents will be able to enjoy a dazzling AR show at city landmarks such as Shougang Park, Tongzhou Canal, Beijing Olympic Tower, Beijing Daxing International Airport and Qianmen Dashilan Business District. At the same time, Beijing's central axis, the east and the west extension line of Chang'an Avenue, and a few municipal night-time landscapes along the Second and the Third Ring Road will all be brightly lit up.

ang Lei, the deputy director-general of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, said that the added value of Beijing's digital economy had increased from CNY 871.94 billion in 2015 to CNY 1.7 trillion in 2022 with its share of GDP increasing from 35.2 percent to 41.6 percent. In the first quarter of 2023, the added value of the digital economy reached CNY 426.57 billion, a year-on-year increase of 7.6 percent at current prices, accounting for 42.9 percent of GDP.
