The paper art exhibition on Grand Canal intangible cultural heritage opens to the public in Beijing on December 19, marking the start of 156 handicraft experience programs based on the 12 themes of the exhibition.

The event with the name "Thousand-Year Waterway Civilization Unfold: Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Grand Canal on Paper Art" is hosted at the Jingren's Paperlogue (Jingren Zhiyu) exhibition hall, Fuxiang Hutong, South Luogu Lane.

With support from Beijing Culture and Arts Fund, visitors have to chance to appreciate 35 paper art models and creative paper products, organized in 21 series, from cities and provinces along the Grand Canal, including Beijing, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang. Artists utilize diverse means of sound, light and electricity to showcase the scenery along the thousand-year-old waterway and display the aesthetics of the Grand Canal culture in different periods.

This exhibition will be open to the public for free until April 18, 2021. From March to June next year, a total of 156 hand-on experience programs will be organized to focus on 12 themes including paper boats for transportation on the Grand Canal, paper wharfs, paper river channels, documents for customs clearance, and paper-craft models of Houhai's Yinding Bridge, South Luogu Lane. 

The programs will offer 40 seats for free to the public respectively on the morning and on the afternoon on weekdays. Citizens are encouraged to sign up via the official Wechat accounts of Jingren's Paperlogue, Paperpu, and other related organizations.
