1 The Palace Museum

01 Brilliant Vermilion - Chinese Lacquerware of the Qianlong Reign from the Palace Museum

[Venue] 2F, Guardian Art Center (No. 1 Wangfujing Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing)

[Overview] This exhibition is the latest collaboration between the Palace Museum and Guardian Art Center. It focuses on Qing Dynasty-era lacquerware from the Palace Museum. Over 100 pieces have been selected and divided into four separate elements based on lacquerware crafting techniques commonly seen in the Qing Dynasty's royal palace. Imitation lacquer porcelain wares have also been included in the exhibition.

02 National Name Card, Treasures from the Forbidden City - Special Exhibition of Palace Museum-themed Stamps

[Date] May 18, 2021 - July 18, 2021

[Venue] Hall for Abstinence, the Palace Museum

[Overview] This exhibition is the first culture-themed exhibition jointly organized by the Palace Museum and China Post. The most memorable aspect is the combination of Palace Museum-themed stamps issued by the People's Republic of China and the corresponding Palace Museum cultural relics seen on said stamps.

A total of 1,732 stamps forming 56 sets (including 52 sets of Forbidden City-themed stamps [1,590 in total] ), 54 precious pieces such as stamp manuscripts and 13 jointly issued first day covers are on display across 4 separate sections in this exhibition. Also included are 25 cultural relics from the Palace Museum of varying mediums such as calligraphy and painting, jadeware, enamelware, bronzeware, porcelainware and furniture which are placed next to stamps featuring similar themes.

03 Porcelain Ware from Hall of Martial Valor, the Palace Museum

[Venue] Hall of Martial Valor, the Palace Museum

[Overview] In addition to the "five famous kilns" and the imperial kiln porcelains of the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, the over 1,000 ceramic relics on display in this exhibition cover the Republic of China period as well. They are a comprehensive demonstration of the long and rich history of Chinese ceramics and their underlying culture.

2 National Museum of China

A Long History Praised in Silent Poems - The Communist Party of China in Art Classics

[Venue] South Hall No. 8 and No. 9, National Museum of China

[Overview] Taking major events in the century-long course of the CPC's development as inspiration, this exhibition has selected 100 classic works of art from various museum collections that best reflect the various historical periods of the CPC's development since its founding.

01 Eternal Treasures - Exhibition of Achievements in the Conservation of Cultural Relics in China

[Overview] This exhibition brings together more than 50 exhibits (sets) from 23 cultural institutions and museums in 10 provinces (municipalities) across China. The exhibition highlights the developments of cultural relic conservation efforts in China, as well as the latest achievements in scientific cognition, conservation and restoration, processes restoration, and preventive conservation of cultural relic collections in various museums.

02 Wonders: The Ancient Andean Civilization in Peru

[Date] May 21, 2021 - August 22, 2021

[Venue] -1F, Hall A, Capital Museum

[Overview] Through 155 sets of precious Peruvian cultural relics, this exhibition focuses on 15 ancient Peruvian cultures, and shows the lives of ancient Peruvians on the other side of the Pacific Ocean spanning all the way from 1,500 BC to the 16th century.

4 Beijing Museum of Natural History

A Warm Story in the Frozen World - Reindeer and Ethnic Cultures

[Date] June 29, 2021 - January 16, 2022

[Venue] Temporary Exhibition Hall, Beijing Museum of Natural History

[Overview] In this exhibition, visitors will learn many scientific facts about reindeer, become familiar with legendary tales of these creatures, and get a sense of the boundless charm seen in the traditional reindeer ethnic cultures.

5 China Science and Technology Museum

A Century of Scientific and Technological Innovation - Achievements Exhibition on the Centenary of the CPC

[Venue] Temporary Exhibition Hall, China Science and Technology Museum

[Overview] What great scientific and technological achievements has China made in the past 100 years. With 33 events, 6 immersive environments, 46 exhibits, and a 2,000 sqm exhibition hall, the themed exhibition brings a century of Chinese scientific and technological achievements to life.

6 China Millennium Monument

From Courbet, Corot to Impressionism - World of Light and Shadow from Normandy, France - Authentic Work Exhibition

[Date] July 16, 2021 - October 15, 2021

[Venue] 2F, Century Hall, the China Millennium Monument

[Overview] The 60 authentic oil paintings on display in this exhibition are primarily selected from the "Normandy Series" collection by the French Normandy Painting Association (Peindre en Normandie), and focus on impressionist art in the Normandy region. Through the exhibition, visitors can get a full and in-depth understanding of the works of the masters in Normandy, France.

7 Today Art Museum

The World of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli - Animation Art Exhibition

[Date] June 12, 2021 - October 10, 2021

[Venue] Hall No. 1, Today Art Museum

[Exhibition Overview] This exhibition is comprised of a large number of precious materials illustrating the behind-the-scenes process of how Studio Ghibli creates their animated films. These materials include reproductions of nearly 300 sketches and design drafts from 21 different animated films, as well as the original animation cells from 6 films including Nausicaä of the Valley of the Windand Castle in the Sky.

8 Shijia Hutong Museum

[Date] June, 2021 - October, 2021 (open daily during the theme season) 

[Venue] Hall No. 8, Shijia Hutong Museum

[Overview] "Re-trace the May Fourth Avenue" is an attempt to digitize the historical map of the CPC. Virtual reality is used to present Beijing's May Fourth Avenue as it stands today. Buildings pertinent to the history of the CPC are fully realized through detailed surveying and mapping, from the Peking University Red Building and the former site of the Imperial University of Peking to city facilities such as manhole covers and fences. May Fourth Avenue as a "red" site in the new era is presented in fine details through the use of digital streetscape models.
