Beijing Museum of Natural History, one of the nation's A-list museums, is the first of its kind in the People's Republic of China. It is mainly engaged in specimen collection, scientific research and popularization in fields such as paleontology, zoology, botany, and anthropology. Founded in April 1951, the museum burgeoned out of the National Central Museum of Natural History, and formally became the Beijing Museum of Natural History in 1962.

The exhibition hall of the museum covers an area of 10,000 square meters, with its collection of 321,829 items. The objects on display mirror a number of concepts including the sequence of biological transformation, representations of biodiversity, the relationships between organisms and the environment, and exhibits on how life began and evolved on earth.

In addition to periodical exhibitions, temporary presentations of different themes are held in the museum as well. Apart from exhibitions, the museum also organizes various activities to disseminate scientific knowledge, aiming to share it with the public and expose the mystery of science and nature in an interactive and engaging way.

The museum is taking measures to control tourist flow for pandemic prevention and control. Online reservation is required in advance.
