2022 New Year's Blessings – A Joyous Gathering: Youth (Concert by Zhang Yi and the National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra)

The National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra is a symphony orchestra in China that primarily plays ballet music. It is not only a unique orchestra within China, but also enjoys a high reputation on the international stage.

Zhang Yi is the Musical Director of the National Ballet of China, as well as the Artistic Director of both the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra. He was granted the Outstanding Contribution Award at the Beijing Modern Music Festival. He has conducted the Chinese premieres of many Chinese and foreign musical pieces, such as Stravinsky's L'histoire du Soldat (The Soldier's Tale), Mozart's Mass in C Minor, and Rossini's Stabat Mater.

Founded in 1950, the Traditional Orchestra of China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater is the oldest state-level professional Chinese orchestra in the country. It is the most versatile state-level orchestra among all domestic Chinese orchestras in terms of musical style and stage performance.

The orchestra formed a tri-national Asian orchestra with counterparts from Japan and South Korea in 2003 which has given annual concerts in China, Japan, South Korea and other regions in Asia, contributing significantly to the creation and exchanges of folk music in Asia.

The China National Traditional Orchestra is the world's largest national music performance group with the widest range of ethnic instruments. Along with the folk concerts Splendor of Folk Music and Lingering Folk Music, the orchestra's three national musicals, Impressions Chinese Music, Rediscover Chinese Music, and Xuanzang's Pilgrimage to the West have all become classics in its repertoire.

The orchestra's international cultural exchanges have spread to more than 30 countries and regions spanning five continents, including Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Egypt, the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, and Peru.

The China National Opera House is currently the most talented and influential national art troupe in the Asia-Pacific region. It, on behalf of China, has long been active in the global art exchanges. It has also shone on international stages at the Palace of Nations of the United Nations, the Festival Puccini, the Budapest Spring Music Festival, and the Ljubljana Summer Festival.

The concert will feature the Symphony No. 9 Ode to Joy composed by Beethoven.

The China Film Symphony Orchestra is the first national symphony orchestra established after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It has collaborated with world-renowned conductors, composers, performers and dancers from the United States, Germany, France, Japan, the Philippines, Russia and Italy in performing symphonic concerts, world-famous operas, ballets, and more. In recent years, the orchestra's repertoire has covered film music, pop music, Latin music, country music, jazz, and classic folk songs and ballads. The orchestra has performed all over the world and has been well received by international audiences.

Flying Snow Welcomes Spring's Return (Concert by the Beijing Wind Orchestra)

Time: February 5, 2022 - February 6, 2022

Venue: Concert Hall of the National Center for the Performing Arts

The Beijing Wind Orchestra primarily plays wind symphonic music and is influential both at home and abroad. The orchestra's repertoire includes classical and contemporary symphonic works by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Berlioz, Horst, Debussy, Stravinsky, Gershwin, Major, and Maslanka. It also includes jazz, film music and light music.
