1. Call 4921: An Acrobatic Drama Drawn from Reality

Call 4921 is an innovative work that has been planned and prepared by Beijing Performance & Arts Group and the China National Acrobatic Troupe since 2019, and gives full play to the inherent advantages of the China National Acrobatic Troupe in acrobatics. The play depicts the heroic story of two police officers, who are father and son and died one after another when performing their duties. "4921" is the police ID number of the leading character in the play. Compared with the previous artistic creation of pure acrobatic works, the play has made relatively great breakthroughs in many aspects such as costume, choreography, multimedia and music.

2. Roméo & Juliette: A Musical Theater

The musical theater "Roméo & Juliette" will welcome its first Chinese version that is officially licensed to be staged as a commercial performance since the original version premiered 21 years ago. Under the joint efforts of top production team and popular and professional actors, the Chinese version of "Roméo & Juliette" will take the stage at Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center on December 24 and will be performed for 12 consecutive sessions.  

Since its premiere in France in 2001, the musical theater "Roméo & Juliette" has been staged in more than 40 countries and hailed by the European media as "the greatest pop musical of the 21st century". The songs of "Aimer" and "Les Rois du Monde" in the play have become enduring classics.

3. Children's Drama Club - Three Classic Face-painting Plays; Children's Drama Club 2 - Super Little Heroes

In the winter of 2021, "Children's Drama Club - Three Classic Face-painting Plays" and "Children's Drama Club 2 - Super Little Heroes" will continue to be performed. During the performances, characters like Sun Wukong, Ne Zha and Hua Mulan will bring lively and interesting traditional culture lessons to the children.

A series of fun educational activities such as painting the face, wearing costumes, learning movements and performing on stage will be provided. Besides, Peking Opera excerpts will be carefully selected with the focus on the lyrics and the unique skills to be displayed on stage. In doing so, children can feel the charm of traditional culture while "playing" on stage.

4. 2021 Xiqu Opera Black Box Festival Online Exhibition

Kunqu Opera: The Imitator (November 30 - December 29, 2021)

It is the first original Kunqu opera work initiated and created by the young artists of Kunshan Contemporary Kunqu Theater. The play revolves around the story of Su Shi and his second wife Wang Runzhi to narrate it from a new perspective and focus on the emotions and growth of contemporary people, which is of relevance to the contemporary world.

Shaanxi Opera: Burning Joss Sticks (December 2, 2021 - January 1, 2022)

With the operation mode featuring "a small investment in production, famous artists as the leading role, and collaboration of a crew", this opera is performed by Ms. Qi Aiyun, winner of both the Plum Performance Award and the 30th Shanghai Magnolia Award for Best Actress, and one of the four famous artists of China's Shannxi Opera, and Mr. Zhang Tao, winner of both the Plum Performance Award and the Shanghai Magnolia Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Ou Opera: That Year When Plum Blossomed and Crane Returned (December 5, 2021 -January 4, 2022)

This opera shows Dong Meijian's life journey from writing operas in his youth to fight against the Japanese aggression and guard the country, to studying dramas throughout the rest of his life to serve the country. It tells a dramatic and inspiring story.

Peking Opera: Through Mist and Rain with a Straw Cape (December 5, 2021 - January 4, 2022)

The opera tells the story of Su Shi who lived in a small city alone after being demoted and exiled to Huangzhou because of being falsely accused in Wutai Poetry Incident. He lived a peaceful life close to the nature, and was accompanied by a myriad of beautiful moonlight.
