In 2021, on the occasions of the 50th anniversary of Stravinsky's death and the 70th anniversary of Schoenberg's death, the BMF boldly invites the very young and fresh Novus-Classica Camerata to perform the masterpieces of the two vastly different modernist giants composed at different stages of their lives with equal emphasis on inheritance and innovation. Schoenberg's early classic Verklärte Nacht takes a frightening story as the main line with an impressively extreme tension of harmony. Stravinsky, at the end of his creative life, returned to Bach's style to trace the origin and arranged several numbers from The Well-Tempered Clavier as his swan song. This is its premiere in China. The Novus-Classica Camerata communicates with one pioneer's fearless youth and the other's final thoughts of the long life.

Schoenberg: Verklärte Nacht, Op. 4  25'

—Intermission—

J. S. Bach, arr. Stravinsky: Four Preludes and Fugues  27' from The Well-Tempered Clavier (Chinese Premiere)
