Built in August, 1999, the Cherry Blossom Garden is the largest garden of its kind in the North China. Located in the northwest of the park, and on the east of the Central Radio and TV Tower, it covers an area of 25 hectares and has continuously introduced new varieties since 1973 when the Sargent cherry trees, as a gift from Japan and a symbol of China-Japan friendship, were planted. The annual Cherry Blossom Festival has become a tradition for people to have a spring outing and admire cherry blossoms.
