The Beijing Design Week is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Beijing Municipal Government. This summit is the first international event with the theme of “Creative Empowerment + Urban Renewal” since the COVID-19 outbreak. The summit focuses on the future development of cities in the post-COVID-19 era, mainly discusses how to use new technologies to empower culture and creativity and provide more forward-looking and optimized development plans, models and concepts for urban renewal as the epidemic prevention and control moves ahead in parallel with the resumption of work and production, and focusing on digital technology, discusses how to integrate interdisciplinary technologies and design concepts into urban renewal and construction, build a comfortable and livable environment to achieve urban structural transformation, and form a series of innovative solutions to promote sustainable urban development under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control. The summit brings together more than 200 guests, including ambassadors and councilors of relevant countries in China, leaders of local governments, outstanding enterprises and public institutions, design institutions and investment institutions, to discuss new opportunities and new chapters for global urban renewal. Also, this summit serves as a link to stimulate the endogenous driving forces for economic development. Through a series of creative and innovative ideas, this summit will help accelerate industry-city integration, gather more innovation potential energy, and unleash more innovative value.

Highlight (1): Authoritative organizations, experts and scholars at home and abroad analyze the urban development trends from a global perspective.

The summit will invite more than 100 elites, including responsible persons of national ministries and commissions, representatives of governmental agencies, domestic and foreign design institutions, financial institutions, experts and scholars, news media, and executives of excellent cultural tourism enterprises, to gather in the 2021 Beijing Design Week to discuss the development plan of the industry.

Highlight (2): Release the new potential energy of creative design and reshape the new pattern of urban development.

During the summit, the experts will discuss how to reshape the relationship between cities and industries in the context of digital economy, how to improve the urban pattern with innovative technologies, and how to deal with the biggest challenges faced by the industries in urban development as more and more cities and industries have entered a critical period of digital transformation and innovation development, and offer the most valuable solutions.

Highlight (3): International dialogue and summit exchange

Ambassadors and cultural and commercial counselors from countries along the “Belt and Road” are invited to attend this summit to conduct discussions and exchanges centered on “Innovation Empowers Urban Renewal”, so as to enhance exchanges between countries, strengthen interconnection and interoperability, promote economic growth and achieve common prosperity through the Beijing Design Week platform.

Event 1. Seminars

This summit will focus on “digitalization”, “industrial recovery” and “innovation-driven transformation”, etc., and deeply discuss important topics such as how S&T innovation boosts urban development, how IT boosts regional industrial transformation and upgrading, and development opportunities for cultural and creative industries in the post-COVID-19 era, so as to promote exchanges and cooperation among cities along the “Belt and Road”.

Event 2. Promotion and Introduction

Industries, demands and capital funds meet to promote industrial resource matching through roadshows, negotiations and contracts, share experience in project operations, and boost the landing of excellent industrial projects.

Event 3. Initiation Ceremony

An initiation ceremony for industrial organizations is set up to gather superior resources and forces and open up new prospects for industrial development. Effectively guide industrial innovations, give play to the role of the Beijing Design Week platform, and promote the integration of industrial resources.
