Foreigners who are train attendants, air crew members or maritime workers on international service along with their accompanying family members, as well as motorists who engage in international road transportation may apply for a crew (C) visa by following the steps below.

► An original international travel document.

► An original Visa/Stay Permit/Residence Permit Application Form completed in black ink pen, with a recently-taken, bareheaded, full-faced, and colored photo (3.5x5.3 cm) with a white background.

► An original registration form of temporary residence (only for verification) if the applicant has made a valid registration of residence at the local police station or hotel of current residence.

► An original certification letter granting the visa application issued by the government body. It shall detail the applicant's travel to China and all information provided must be comprehensive and accurate.

· C visa holders may apply for an extension valid for no longer than 30 days.

· The extension is only valid for this referred entry and does not affect the validity or the number of entries of the original C visa. The accumulated extension period shall not exceed the original duration of stay specified on the visa.

· An interview is required if the applicant meets one of the following requirements:

-Apply for residence in China

-Personal information and reason for residence need to be verified;

-Having been refused entry to a country or having been required to leave a country within a specified time limit

-Other conditions where an interview is required

Related departments in China shall cooperate with the overseas visa-granting offices that need to confirm related information with them

· Original versions of the required documents must be presented for inspection; photocopies shall be submitted. 

· Application materials in any foreign language except English must be translated into Chinese.

· Applicants must first cancel their Chinese household registration (hukou) before applying.

· Foreigners under the age of 18 who submit their application for the first time while in China shall prepare a birth certificate (or equivalent), passport and permanent residence permits of their parents, along with other related documents as certification of nationality.

· An undertaking letter from the foreign transport company or an invitation letter from the related organization in China is required for crew (C) visa application.

· Foreigners residing in China that are applying to extend their duration of stay must file their application at least 7 days prior to the expiry of the validity period on their visa.

· During the period when the applicant's passport (or other travel documents) is under legal custody of the exit-entry administration authorities for the issuance of a visa or residence permit, the applicant resides legally within the territory of China while bearing the receipt notice of the application herein.

· The exit-entry administration authorities hold the right to verify the purpose of application via interview, telephone inquiry or on-the-spot investigation.

· Decisions made by the exit-entry administration authorities on rejecting extension applications, visa re-issuing, foreigners' stay or residence permits, and duration of residence extensions shall be considered final. 

The right to interpret this notice resides with the Exit-Entry Administration Department of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau.
