As the second most common malignant tumor affecting women, almost all cervical cancers can be attributed to human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is not a single virus but rather a group of more than 130 viruses. Among them, 13 viruses are the cause of more than 90% of all cervical cancers.
At present, three HPV vaccines are available, namely bivalent HPV vaccine, quadrivalent HPV vaccine, and 9-valent HPV vaccine. The valent is related to the number of HPV types the vaccine can protect against. The higher the valent number, the more HPV types the vaccine covers. Currently, the research on HPV vaccines, including therapeutic and prophylactic vaccines, mainly focuses on high-risk HPV.
Please refer to the website of the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control to find outpatient departments offering HPV vaccination in Beijing Municipality: https://www.bjcdc.org/ColumnAction.do?dispatch=getEjPage&id=72&cID=83.
