Applicants may apply for a replacement of marriage registration certificate with the following marriage authorities, in the case marriage certificate is lost, damaged or identification information is changed:
1. Any of district-level civil affairs bureaus of Beijing Municipality, provided that either party of a couple is registered with permanent household in Beijing;
2. Any of district-level civil affairs bureaus of Beijing Municipality, provided that personnel in military service is quartered in Beijing or is registered with permanent household in Beijing before military service;
3. Any of district-level civil affairs bureaus, provided a couple were originally registered for marriage with the municipal civil affairs bureau even if neither of them were Chinese mainland residents or registered with permanent household in Beijing;
4. For both parties whose permanent residence is not in Beijing or who are not residents of the Chinese mainland, if their marriage was originally registered in the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, they can apply for a replacement at the Original
A couple registered for marriage with a district-level civil affairs bureau may apply for such replacement with the original district-level civil affairs bureau if neither of them were Chinese mainland residents or registered with permanent household in Beijing.
1. ID Card (1 original only for verification);
2. Household Register (1 original only for verification);
3. Valid passport or other valid international travel certificates of the applicants (1 original only for verification);
4. Three recent photos of the couple: 2-inch, bareheaded;
5. Original marriage credentials shall be provided in the case marriage certificate is damaged or identity information is changed (1 original only for verification);
Note: Notarization of materials issued by a foreign notary office shall be certified by the Chinese embassy (consulate) in the country of marriage registration, and also a Chinese translation in full text by the same format is required.
6. Marriage registration archives (1 original only for verification)
Note: The applicants shall provide proof endorsed by archives authority in the case marriage registration archives is lost or unidentifiable. In absence of such endorsed proof, a written statement on archive retrieval shall be made by the applicants after verification by the marriage registration authority.

Marriage registration certificate will be replaced if following requirements are met, or will not be replaced if not:
1. The case is under the jurisdiction of the marriage registry offices;
2. The applicants are legally registered for marriage or divorce and currently remain married or divorced;
3. The applicants shall hold a valid ID card, and servicemen shall also hold a supporting document for marriage registration for military personnel;
4. Applicants for replacement of marriage registration certificate shall provide three recent photos of the two (2-inch, half-length and bareheaded); Applicants for replacement of divorce registration certificate shall provide two recent photo of each (2-inch, half-length and bareheaded);
5. Original marriage registration certificate shall be provided in the case marriage registration certificate is damaged or information on ID card I changed;
6. Applicants shall submit a duplicate of marriage registration documentation with a special seal for archive retrieval;
7. Applicants shall be present in person and fill out the Declaration of Application for Replacement of Marriage Registration Certificates at a marriage registration office.
8. Applicants shall hold a supporting document for original marriage registration or divorce registration archives.
